On 6th September 2017 the Islamic Reporting Initiative (IRI) received the Award for ‘Best Islamic Financial Reporting’ at the Global Islamic Finance Awards in Astana, Kazakhstan, ‘for its remarkable efforts to progress the effective implementation of Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility in OIC member states – including through Western organizations with operations in these countries.’
The event was attended by Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Kazakhstan Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, the President of the Republic of Djibouti, the Governor of the Central Bank of Russia, the Kazakhstan Minister of Finance, ten Ambassadors to Kazakhstan, and many more senior officials and executives from all around the world.
As the Foundation for the Islamic Reporting Initiative is based in the Netherlands, the Award was kindly received on its behalf by the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, His Excellency Dirk Jan Kop. The award was presented to him by the Governor of the Astana International Financial Centre, Mr Kairat Kelimbetov.

The Global Islamic Finance Awards are one of the most prestigious awards in Islamic banking and finance.
