By special invitation of IRI Trustee Mohamed Amersi, who is also the Chairman of the International Advisory Board of the British Asian Trust, the Islamic Reporting Initiative (IRI) was honoured to be part of the 2017 British Asian Trust Royal Dinner held at the iconic Guildhall in the City of London.
The event was attended by British Asian Trust Founder and President HRH The Prince of Wales and HRH The Duchess of Cornwall alongside BAT ambassadors, well known celebrities, and The Rt Hon Priti Patel MP, the UK Secretary of State for International Development.
Following the keynote speech by HRH The Prince of Wales, inspirational personal stories were shared by Navanitha and Kalsoom from India and Pakistan, two people who had been supported directly by the British Asian Trust.
Since 2007, the charity has impacted the lives of over three million people through its programmes in India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, which include education, mental health and anti-trafficking initiatives.
The British Asian Trust Royal Dinner was a fantastic platform for celebrating the great achievements of The Trust over the past year, and raised an incredible GBP 850k.
The IRI will assist the British Asian Trust by applying its analytical tools and methodology to improve lives in South-East Asia.
