Case study: Women Empowerment (Sabic, Saudi Arabia)

“Sabic’s ambition is to be a global employer of choice. Integrity, respect, health, safety, and security are essential to the globally empowering, innovative, and performance-based culture we aspire to provide.”
Inspiring a culture of diversity: Sabic operates in different countries, each with its own cultural identity. Therefore, the company recognises that it is its responsibility to respect local communities, cultures, and beliefs and to conduct its operations accordingly.
• The Global SABIC Women’s Network is an employee resource group designed to recognise the unique talents and experiences of women and their impact on SABIC’s success.
• The “Women’s Executive Development Experience” has brought experienced leaders together for mentorship on personal and professional growth and skills development. As part of this programme, the leaders received one-on-one executive coaching and tools to help them gain better insight into performance and action-oriented development plans that will enhance their career development and will enable them to assume leadership positions within Sabic.
• Sabic remains committed to its Code of Ethics, which consists of policies relating to competition law, international trade controls, insider trading and stock tipping, conflicts of interest, controllership, environment, health, safety and security, fair employment practices, intellectual property, privacy and data protection, product risk management, third-party business dealings, working with governments, money laundering, reporting compliance concerns, and no retaliation.
Improving communities
• Sabic has sponsored a programme in Jubail in collaboration with the Women’s Social Services Foundation. The objective of the programme was to empower creative women in Jubail to contribute to the Kingdom’s economic growth by starting their own businesses.
• Sabic conducted its “school bag” programme in Yanbu for the third consecutive year, benefitting 380 underprivileged boys and girls, who received school supplies to support their education.
• The company has organised a beach- and road-clearing programme and it supports a number of health and well-being services.
